NATO airstrike in Afghanistan kills at least 6 soldiers: Report

QALA-I-NAW: Six Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel were killed in an airstrike in the Maqur district of northwestern Badghis province on Wednesday, an official said.

A member of the provincial council, Farid Akhizi told Afghan media the ALP personnel came under mistaken airstrike in the Sanga Khair area of the district at around 11am. He said warplanes, probably of foreign forces, mistakenly struck the ALP men in plainclothes. However, the NATO-led troops have not yet commented on the incident.

Police spokesman Sarwar Dawari confirmed the air raid. He, however, was unaware of details. He would not say who conducted the raid.
