Mosque set alight in Durban, after slitting throat of Imam

ISLAMABAD - Reports suggest that one man has died, while two were left fighting for their lives after three knife-wielding attackers entered a mosque in Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal and carried out a gruesome attack before setting the building alight on Thursday afternoon.
According to *News24*, the victims, including the mosque’s Moulana’s throats were slit and were in a critical condition as they were attended to by paramedics on the scene.
Photos posted by security company, Reactionary Unit South Africa (Rusa), on their Facebook page show the bloody scene, in the aftermath of the attack at the Imam Hussain Mosque in Old Main Road in Ottawa, Durban.
“The suspects have fled in a white Hyundai Getz. Rusa is requesting the public’s assistance in apprehending these suspects. Paramedics or doctors who can assist can report to the scene,” Rusa said in a statement.
A third victim was found inside the mosque, bleeding profusely from the neck, with a knife on the ground next to him.

The perpetrators are believed to be Egyptian nationals, and carried knives, which they used to attack multiple victims in the mosque.
According to IPSS Medical Rescue paramedic Paul Herbst, who is quoted by *TimesLive, *the critically injured men were quickly rushed to nearby hospitals.
“As per reports from scene‚ three males entered the mosque shouting‚ screaming… just started stabbing people‚ threw some sort of device or petrol bomb into the mosque and ran away‚” he said.
Police, as well as the Ethekweni Fire Department, were dispatched to the scene soon after the attack, which comes just a few days before the start of the Islamic holy month of Ramadaan.
