Arrest warrants issued for former IG Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali

KARACHI - Arrest warrants for former Sindh police chief Ghulam Haider Jamali have been issued by accountability court in a corruption case.

Jamali had been ‘missing’ since the Sindh High Court’s (SHC) Tuesday’s hearing of the illegal recruitment case in which the court had cancelled pre-arrest bails of Jamali and other accused police officers.

As the NAB court began its proceedings on Thursday, the accused police officials Tanveer Ahmed, Fida Hussain and others appeared in court.

Last year, the NAB court filed a reference in the case, pleading before the court that the accused are responsible for the illegal hiring of 881 people in the Sindh Reserve Police in Hyderabad in 2013-14.

NAB claims the recruitments made for several posts caused a loss of over Rs500 million to the national exchequer.
