India, China Need Peace, Not Confrontation: Chinese Envoy Sun Weidong July 10, 2020

ISLAMABAD-India and China need to build mutual respect, treat each other as equals, and be open and inclusive, Chinese ambassador Sun Weidong said Friday.

Sun said the two countries need peace rather than confrontation and have “wisdom and capability to properly handle differences and not fall into the trap of conflict.”

The Chinese ambassador’s remarks come days after India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi—the countries’ special representatives for the boundary talks—spoke over the phone.

In a nearly 18-minute video posted on the Chinese embassy’s YouTube channel, Sun also said  the two countries should be “partners, rather than rivals.”
