China’s EU envoy urges tough line against Trump’s trade policy

BEIJING: China's ambassador to European Union Zhang Ming has warned that China and Europe are prepared to take retaliatory action in response to US policy of imposing additional tariffs.
In an interview with a newspaper, he said the visit of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang is intended to signal that the two exporting powerhouses stand together against unilateralism and protectionism.
Zhang Ming said the trade conflict between Europe, China and the United States is high on the agenda for the consultations between Li and Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin.
The ambassador said that China has tried extensively to stop the trade conflict with the United States escalating into a trade war but it takes two hands to clap.
