SC to take up petitions on PPP, PML-N foreign funding tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday while dismissing preliminary objections raised by Supreme Court registrar set January 11 (tomorrow) date for the petitions pertaining to foreign funding of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) from ‘illegal’ sources, for hearing.

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar dismissed objections raised by registrar office and set Thursday (tomorrow) for hearing the petitions.

The petitions were filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) seeking action against PML-N and PPP, for receiving funding from ‘illegal’ foreign sources.

The SC registrar had raised objections that the concerned forums had not been approached and returned the petitions filed by PTI lawmakers Asad Umar and Shireen Mazari.
