India: 39 died from drinking spurious liquor

NEW DELHI: In India, at least thirty-nine people have died and twenty-seven more fallen sick from drinking cheap spurious liquor containing toxic methanol in several villages of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarkhand.
Police have arrested eight suspected bootleggers while the provincial governments have suspended thirty-five officials including twelve police officers after the incident.
