Pakistan Iran and Afghanistan senior officials meet in Islamabad on triangular initiative

ISLAMABAD - The 13th Senior Officials Meeting of the Triangular Initiative on drug control will begin in Islamabad tomorrow. Senior counter-narcotics officials from the Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan will participate in the event.

The two-day meeting will be chaired by the Secretary Ministry of Narcotics Control.

The meeting will help three sides to find solution to common challenges by adhering to a comprehensive and balanced approach.

The Triangular Initiative forum has served as a cornerstone of the regional approach to drug control since its inception in 2007.

The three governments have agreed to share real-time information; plan and conduct drug-interdiction operations through the Joint Planning Cell; and establish Border Liaison Offices to effectively counter the trafficking of Afghan opiates.
