India Russia joint Air Exercise kicks off

NEW DELHI - Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Russian Federation Aerospace Force (RFSAF) joint exercise called Exercise Aviaindra 2018 – will commence from Monday, December 10 onwards.

The bilateral joint exercise between the IAF – RFSAF is a unique exercise as the foreign contingent is participating minus its air assets. Interestingly, the Russian pilots will be flying in planes that are common to both the Air Forces. The exercise is seen as a sign of trust between the two behemoths of skies.

The inaugural IAF-RFSAF Ex AVIAINDRA was conducted in 2014. AVIAINDRA-2018 is the second in the series of a bilateral joint exercise between IAF-RFSAF and is planned from December 10-December 21. The exercise is planned in two phases.

In Russia, the IAF pilots flew alongside their Russian counterparts in RFSAF aircraft at Lipetsk from September 17 to September 28, 2018. The first phase of the exercise was held in Lipetsk in Russia from September 17-28, 2018,
