Pakistan Cricket Board new constitution approved, drastic changes made

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Cricket Board new constitution has been approved in which drastic changes have been made.

The federal cabinet has approved Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) new constitution which puts an end to departmental cricket in the domestic system.

After this approval, only regional teams will be part of the domestic circuit.

The constitution was tabled for cabinet’s approval after Inter-Provincial Coordination recommended it in June. The PCB prepared the bill in June.

Prime Minister Imran Khan had initially floated the idea to dissolve departmental cricket. This means that departments will no longer field their own teams but sponsor each of the six regional teams.

PM Imran had asked 17 departments to assist the board in setting up the new domestic system.
