PEMRA mulling action against anchors and programmes on complaint

ISLAMABAD (APP): Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has taken serious notice of abuse and false allegations against members of Parliament on different television channels and complained to Chairman PEMRA, Absar Alam.
According to a press release, Speaker National Assembly in his complaint said that disciplinary action should be taken against such channels, anchors and commentators who level false allegations against members of Parliament.
He said that the members of Parliament take oath to protect Constitution of Pakistan and national security and declaring them as traitors by television channels was not only a violation of the Constitution but also an insult to Parliament.
Television channel, anchors and commentators have no right to level these kind of allegations, he added.
The Speaker asked the Chairman PEMRA to take action against owners of television channels, anchors and commentators according to its laws and inform the Parliament about its action.
