In a first, Pakistan launches mobile consular services for expats

ISLAMABAD - Pakistani expatriates in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will not have to travel to Dubai anymore for their document-related issues as the Pakistani Consulate has launched an outreach program for them.
Now, the Pakistani Consulate will provide consular services to the Pakistani community in the emirates.
“We will conduct visits in different emirates to provide consular services to the community members in the emirate of their residence,” said Ahmad Amjad Ali, newly-appointed Consul General of Pakistan in Dubai.
He said a team of officers and staff would visit Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah once a week, adding that they have decided to facilitate the community on Fridays so that the maximum number of people can avail this opportunity on their off day.
He said the initiative was part of his plan to make the process easier for blue-collar workers who had to travel to Dubai for even a minor issue.
“The aim is to cater to community members who cannot come to the consulate due to their work schedule,” he added.
The mobile consulate teams will help expats in their issues related to National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis, passports, outpasses (temporary travel document), attestation of documents, and also community welfare services.
He said the visits are initially planned for once a week for every emirate mentioned above, adding that the visits can be increased depending on the demand.
Mr. Ahmad Amjad said the consulate has also launched social media handles on Facebook and Twitter to maximize the interaction with the Pakistani community in UAE.
“We would soon introduce emergency numbers to provide 24/7 emergency services to the community,” Ali added.
