US Defence Secretary in Kabul for unannounced visit
US Defence Secretary, James Mattis arrived in Kabul for an unannounced visit on Friday.
According to U.S. media, James Mattis along with chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Joseph Dunford will meet new commander of NATO troops in Afghanistan, Scott Miller.
They are to discuss progress on peace talks with the Taliban, despite a deteriorating security situation in the country.
Earlier, talking to reporters, Mattis said he is hopeful about peace talks with the Taliban.
