Rockets fired at Iraq's Basra airport

In Iraq, unidentified assailants fired four rockets at Basra airport today. On the other hand the death toll from several days of protests over poor public services climbed to 12.
The main southern city has been rocked by protests since Tuesday against poor civic amenties the demonstrators are setting ablaze the government buildings after the hospitalisation of 30,000 people who had drunk polluted water. Meanwhile, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi today ordered an investigation into the attack on Iranian consulate in Basra by demonstrators protesting rampant unemployment and lack of public services.
A statement by Abadi's office said the investigation is aimed to hold the security force accountable for not fulfilling their duties in providing necessary protection to the consulate.
