US airstrike kills 27 ISIS militants in Nangarhar near Pak-Afghan border

KABUL: The ISIS Khorasan militants suffered heavy casualties in airstrikes conducted by the US forces in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan, the local officials said Saturday.

The officials further added that the airstrikes were carried out in the past 24 hours targeting the insurgents in several key areas of Haska Mina district.

The provincial government in a statement also confirmed that the US forces carried out several airstrikes in the past 24 hours using unmanned aerial vehicles.

The statement further added that the information received by them shows at least 27 insurgents were killed or wounded in the airstrikes.

The militants were targeted in Payin, Loy Payin, Gagara, Langari Kando, Shaghal and Mia Baba areas, the statement said, adding that 18 insurgents have reportedly been killed.

The provincial government also added that 7 ISIS-K insurgents also sustained injuries in the airstrikes and several light and heavy weapons were destroyed.

The anti-government armed militant groups including the ISIS loyalists have not commented regarding the report so far.
