IMF cuts world economic growth forecasts

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has decided to cut its global economic growth forecasts for 2018 and 2019 from 3.9 percent to 3.7 percent.

The new forecasts released today on the Indonesian island of Bali where the IMF and World Bank annual meetings are underway.

The statement said that trade policy tensions and the imposition of import tariffs are taking a toll on commerce while emerging markets struggle with tight financial conditions.
