Peace in Afghanistan is a dream without Pakistan: Experts

ISLAMABAD, Oct 9 (APP): The scholars in a conference themed"Area Studies in Contemporary World" held here said Pakistan's role in Afghan peace process was a must to ensure durable peace in the war torn country.
The speakers in a two-day conference, organized by Area Study Center (ASC) for Africa, North & South America, Quaid-i-Azam University also highlighted different aspects of Syrian crisis.
They shared their views on the syrian crisis impacting politics of the middle eastren countries,changing dynamics of South East Asia and Refugee crisis in Europe in the backlash of this catastrophe.
Prof Dr Javeed Ashraf, Vice Chancellor (VC) Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) was the chief guest on the occassion.
Speaking on the occassion, Director Area Study Center,University of Peshawar Dr Sarfraz Khan highlighted the role of major and regional powers in Afghanistan,phase vise transition of International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), Resolute Support Mission (RSM) led by NATO and political and economical impact of US forces withdrwal on Central Asian States.
Acting Director, Area Study Center University of Balochistan Dr Alam Mengal was of the view that Arab Spring had started in 2011 from Tunisia against Arab rulers. He also highlighted causes of civil war and its impact on middle eastren countries.
Mubeen Maher,Director (Research) Ministry of Foreign Affairs acknowledging the importance of ASCs in contemporary era said our Foreign Office would like to avail and to take advantage of the research conducted by the Area Studies' scholars or experts on contemporary issues.

Director ASC QAU, Prof Dr Noman Sattar gave away souvenirs to speakers at the end of the conference.
