IHC adjourned bail plea of Khurram Rasul for indefinite time

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) adjourned hearing on a plea for indefinite time seeking post arrest bail of Khurram Rasul, the Advisor to the former prime minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani in LPG quota corruption case.

During the proceeding, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB)’s prosecutor Imran Shafiq apprised the bench that the trial court had reserved its judgment on corruption reference against accused. He contended that in such circumstances, the petition couldn’t be entertained in accordance of law. He informed the court that the trial court would also require the accused to record his statement in another corruption reference and requested the bench to adjourned hearing till one month, which was turned down.
Justice Athar Minallah remarked that the accused couldn’t be granted bail in reference on which the trial court had reserved its judgment.
However, the bench observed that it would take up the bail plea in another reference after one week of trial court’s hearing in this case. The court adjourned hearing of the case for indefinite time.
