AJK PM continues activities in connection with Kashmir EU Week in Brussels

MIRPUR (AJK): AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan continued his activities in connection with Kashmir European Union Week at the European Union Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.

He is precipitating as chief guest in a week long annual events of Kashmir EU Week arranged by Kashmir Council EU at the European Parliament in Brussels, says an official message released to the media here Thursday night.
Conferences, seminars, workshops, meetings and exhibition are continued as a part of the EU Week.

PM AJK met United Nation Deputy Regional Representatives Paul d’Auchamp in Brussels. During the meeting, which took place in presence of Chairman Kashmir Council EU Ali Raza Syed, Former Ambassador of EU Mr Anthony Crasner and Chairman Kashmir Global Council Farooq Saddiqui, UN Human Rights Council’s recent report on human rights situation in Indian Held Kashmir (IHK) was discussed.

About a likely visit of UN’s representative delegation to Azad Kashmir (AJK), the Prime Minister told that if UN’s
representatives want to visit AJK, government of Pakistan will permit them for the purpose.
Chairman Kashmir Council EU Ali Raza Syed assured the UN’s office bearers that the council will be in touch with UN’s
regional office in Brussels in order to update them regarding latest situation concerning Kashmir issue.

A meeting between AJK’s Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider and member EU parliament Dr Sajjad Karim also took place in Brussels. Chairman Kashmir Council EU Ali Raza Syed was also present on the occasion witnessing discussion on latest situation in Indian Held Kashmir (IHK).

Meanwhile, speakers at a conference during third session of Kashmir EU Week chaired by Member European Parliament (MEP) Wajid Khan at the European Parliament emphasized over earlier and peaceful settlement of Kashmir issue.
MEP Wajid Khan told the participants that hearing of human rights committee of the EU parliament on Kashmir issue will be held in January.

Regarding the upcoming hearing, AJK’s PM Raja Farooq Haider said, Kashmiris should participate in the hearing and as well gather outside the parliament during the hearing in order to show their solidarity with the oppressed people of IHK.

MEPs Julie Ward, Anthea McIntyre, John Howarth, Amjad Bashir, Chairman Kashmir Council EU Ali Raza Syed, Dr Gul Die Osuri, Human Right Activist Sumera Khursheed, Memer Brussels parliament Dr Zahoor Manzoor, former member Brussels parliament Daniele Caroon, Chairman Kashmir Global Council Farooq Saddiqui, Director X-Theater Berlin Yasmin Ibrahim and Councillor from UK Mr Ateequr Rehman spoke on the occasion.

Addressing the conference, AJK’s PM presented a picture of an old lady of IHK and said, weak and old women and minor children are also not safe from Indian security forces in IHK. Efforts of Kashmir Council EU for highlighting the Kashmir issue were also highly appreciated by the speakers.

Chairman Kashmir Council EU Ali Raza Syed told the participants that objectives of Kashmir EU Week are highlighting the issue of Kashmir in Europe in order to make better understanding on issue in the region, especially it is a platform of awareness about the human rights violations in IHK.
Exhibition in connection with Kashmir EU Week would be continued next two weeks at European press Club in Brussels and it would be held at EU Parliament in Strasburg from next week till November 18.

The photographs of the famous French-Belg photographer Cédric Gerbehaye have been displayed in the exhibition showing the miseries of people of the occupied valley and how they are struggle for freedom in a brutal environment and a severe pressure by the Indian occupation forces.

It is important to mention that Kashmir EU Week arranged by Kashmir Council EU is being hosted by MEPS Wajid Khan and Sajjad Karim at EU parliament.
