Chairman NAB orders inquiry for falsely declaring corruption accused as dead

ISLAMABAD: Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal Wednesday ordered conduct an inquiry against NAB officials responsible for falsely declaring Shaikh Akhtar Hussein as dead to escape punishment in Rs 51 million fraud case.

According to a press release, in the references filed in 2001 and 2004, an officer of Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), Ministry of National Health Services and Regulations, Akhtar Hussein was declared dead in connivance with NAB officials.

Shaikh was co accused in fraud of Rs 51 million.Four other co accused of Shaikh had already completed their sentences.

Shaikh Akhtar Hussein escaped punishment owing to negligence of NAB officials.Shaikh Akhtar Hussein is still working in the Ministry of National Health Services and Regulations.

Chairman NAB  ordered an inquiry so that the culprits could be punished.
