Rangers, Police conduct 162 combing, IBOs in Rawalpindi, Attock

RAWALPINDI: Police and Rangers under the countrywide operation Radd-ul-Fasaad carried out 162 combing and intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Rawalpindi and Attock districts during the last two and a half months.

Fortynie combing operations were carried against terrorists and extremists in Rawalpindi and 113 in Attock district on the special directives of Regional Police Officer Muhammad Wisal Fakhar Sultan. Similarly, the police and Rangers also jointly carried out two IBOs each in the two districts.

According to an RPO office spokesman, the security forces recovered 75 weapons of different bores, including SMGs, 222, 12 bore, 7mm, 8mm, repeaters, pistols and revolvers from different areas of Rawalpindi district.

Total 52 cases were registered in Rawalpindi district on illegal weapons recovery, 19 on drugs seizures, six under 14 Foreigners Act, 10 on renting rules violations and seven under 55/109 Pakistan Penal Code. Two terrorists were also killed in an operation.

Similarly, in the operations carried out in Attock district, 118 weapons of different bores were recovered and 101 cases were registered against offenders. Eighteen cases were also registered against drug peddlers, besides registration of three FIRs under 14 Foreigners Act and seven on renting rules violations. (APP)
