KP government launches fully automated online system

PESHAWAR: (APP) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has formally launched fully automated/online system in all four Town Municipal Administration of Peshawar.

The system has been put in place under a project of Provincial Information Technology Department entitled "E-Enablement of Municipalities" -- a two year project with a cost of Rs. 47 million.

Under the said project, all matter of the four municipalities including Tendering, Bidding, Auction, Accounts, Financial Management, Budgeting, HR Management, Attendance of employees Complaint Redressal, Litigation and all municipality services have been fully automated/computerized with the aim to achieve the desirable value of transparency, efficiency and better citizen services delivery.

"E-Enablement of Municipalities" is a two year pilot project which will later by fully owned by Local Government Department by including it in its next Annual Development Program and it will be extended to the entire province.

The project will facilitate faster exchange of critical information between various sections of Local Government and Local Council Board for reducing the amount of paper work which will result in higher efficiency and better data management.

Through this automated/online system the citizens will also have more convenient platform for interacting with the government.

A launching ceremony to this effect was held here Thursday with Provincial Senior Minister for Information Technology Shahram Tarakai and minister for Local Government Inayatullah Khan as chief guests.

Briefing the participant of the ceremony about various aspects of the initiative high ups of IT and LG Departments told the project is meant to integrate overall activities of the Local Councils at four town offices which include modern networking inside the department and connection with the field offices for file tracking and resource sharing, E-Tendering System, Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Financial Management Module, Human Resource Management, Bio matric attendance, Inventory, Stock, Procurement Management Module, Land & State Management System, Tax recovery system, Complaint Registration/Redressal System etc for better service delivery to the citizens.

Addressing the launching ceremony, provincial senior ministers termed the initiative the revolutionary step of the provincial government and said the project will ensure utmost transparency in the affairs of municipalities and efficient service delivery.

They further said this automated/online system will also help a great deal to collect real time data about municipal services and thus result in better policy decision making for public well being.

The provincial ministers while stressing on an effective and responsive public Complaints Redressal System directed the high ups of both the department to sit together and to include an effective public complaint redressal mechanism in the newly launched system.
