Nawaz, Maryam arrival in Pakistan, Government prepares foolproof strategy

LAHORE: The authorities have decided to seal Allama Iqbal International Airport on the arrival of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz on Friday.
According to the local media reports, the security forces have finalized a security plan and as per the plan both Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz will be sent to Islamabad on another plane immediately after their arrival at Lahore airport.
It is to be mentioned here that the father-daughter duo had announced to return Pakistan from London on July 13 after accountability court announced verdict in Avenfield reference. The National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) investigation team had already arrested Nawaz’s son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar from Rawalpindi.
On Friday, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Captain Safdar were convicted and sentenced to prison in absentia for ten years, seven years and one year respectively, in a verdict that is likely to further disrupt an already chaotic campaign for national elections this month.
