ICC unveils latest T20 rankings, Pakistani players inch up

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan’s flamboyant opener, Fakhar Zaman had an impressive run in the tri-series against Zimbabwe and Australia where he scored 278 runs in five games, which include a match-winning 46-ball 91 run inning in the all-important final.

Fakhar Zaman, who achieved the feat of scoring most number of runs for Pakistan in a T20I series, clinched the second spot in the ICC T20I ranking for batsmen, just behind Australia’s T20I skipper, Aaron Finch.

Zaman has a golden run so far in 2018 as he is the highest scorer in the world in the shortest format of the game this year, moreover, he became only the third batsman in the world to score 500+ runs in a calendar year, after India’s Virat Kohli and Afghanistan’s Mohammad Shahzad.

With Zaman’s blitz in the tri-series final, Pakistan chased down their highest ever total in the 20-over format and also registered their third consecutive T20I series win.

The Champions Trophy final hero for Pakistan was named the man of the match in the final and also the man of the series.

On the other hand, Babar Azam, who got injured during the Test series against England and is out of the team, has slipped down to the fifth spot.

Whereas, Shadab Khan has maintained his second position in the ICC T20I ranking for bowlers courtesy of his effective bowling during the series.

Pakistan have made their top-position firm in the team ranking maintaining a 12-point lead against the second-ranked team, India.
