Apple unveils IPhone X like smartphone but with cheaper price

LONDON - Renowned phone case maker Ghostek has provided a rough render of the upcoming budget 2018 iPhone. The render has been revealed by Forbes <link>. The renders confirm that Apple is giving in to consumer demands by giving them an iPhone X-like smartphone within a reasonable price bracket. Sadly, however, the phone will not retain all of X’s premium features. The report reveals that the budget iPhone will be priced near $700 and will feature the widely-acclaimed Face ID.

It isn’t all cheerful though. The report also reveals that the budget iPhone 2018 will have a single-lens camera instead of the X’s dual-lens camera setup. The cheap trim of the upcoming 2018 iPhone has a 6.1-inch display. Oh wait, let me correct myself. It has a 6.1-inch LCD display. Yukh, did someone forget to give Apple the new year memo? It’s 2018 and they’re offering an LCD in a flagship phone; who does that? Anyhow, let’s get to further details.

The render has revealed the exact dimensions of the upcoming cheap iPhone, which are 147.12 x 71.52 mm. These dimensions are vital in helping Apple put the 6.1-inch display on the phone. The 6.1-inch display means the budget iPhone will be larger than the iPhone X. It’s notable how Apple has started to adopt the large-displays trend in recent times. Up till the iPhone 6, iPhone carried quite small screens. For example, the iPhone 5 and 5s had a 4-inch screen while the iPhone 4G had a 3.5-inch display.

Rumors currently in circulation state that the cheap trim will not have 3D-touch support as well. Reportedly, Apple will include wired fast-charge support in a bid to counter the effect of taking out all the premium features. Question is, will this be enough to convince consumers to miss out on all the premium features just to save a few hundred dollars? Or will the cheap version of the iPhone be a failure? I think not <link>, what about you?
