Pakistani star Mehwish Hayat joins Hollywood campaign

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani star Mehwish Hayat expressed solidarity with her Hollywood counterparts by wearing black as part of the war on sexual misconduct and Time’s Up campaign.

Time’s Up campaign was initiated in 2018 after the #MeToo campaign in 2017. As part of the campaign, women on the red carpet at the 75th Golden Globe Awards wore black and spoke out about sexual harassment and assault.

In the same vein, Mehwish Hayat wore black to express solidarity with the cause and posted her picture on Twitter and Instagram with the caption: “Today, I wear black in solidarity with my industry colleagues in US and push this message to the women of my own homeland,Pakistan. We are no less than men by virtue of our gender. Harassment of any form is totally unacceptable and we will not tolerate it #WhyIWearBlack #timeisup”
