ECP asks Balochistan Govt for timely holding of LB polls

The Election Commission of Pakistan has directed the Baluchistan Government to cooperate to timely hold local government elections in the province.

This direction was issued during a meeting held in Islamabad on Friday with Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Muhammad Raza in the chair.

The commission said after completion of tenure of local government, holding of election within 120 days is the constitutional responsibility of ECP.

Earlier, the Chief Secretary Baluchistan apprised the meeting the election will not be possible as the provincial has suggested some amendments in local government law.

The meeting was attended by members of the Commission, Chief Secretary Baluchistan, Secretary Law, Secretary Local Government Baluchistan and other senior officers.
