144 nominations filed for Senate elections so far: ECP

ISLAMABAD:Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday said that so far 144 nominations have been filed with the Returning Officers in all four provinces including federal capital for the Senate elections.

According to ECP, as many as 34 nominations have been filed by the candidates from Punjab, 47 from Sindh, 34 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 28 from Balochistan and one from the federal capital.

It said that in General seats total 79 nominations have been filed included 21 from Punjab, 23 from Sindh, 20 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 15 from Balochistan.
Similarly, 28 nominations have been filed for Women seats included five from Punjab, nine from Sindh, eight from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and six from Balochistan.

It said that 30 nominations have been filed for Technocrat seats including Ulema that included five from Punjab, 11 from Sindh, six from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, seven from Balochistan and one from the federal capital.
It said that total seven nominations have been filed for Non-Muslim seats included three from Punjab and four from Sindh.

These nominations have been filed by candidates from different political parties and independent candidates.APP/AFP
