CPEC: Briefing on 820 Km Fiber Optical Cable project to be held

ISLAMABAD: (APP) The Special Committee of Senate on the Project of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will undertake a three day visit of Gilgit from Tuesday to review CPEC projects.

According to a Senate secretariat notice, on the first day, the members will hold a discussion with elected representatives of Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly and members of civil society on issues related to CPEC.

Chief Secretary Gilgit Baltistan will give a briefing to the Senate members on the projects.

Officials of federal ministry of communications will also inform the visiting delegation about the status of corridor roads passing through Gilgit Baltistan while Civil Aviation Authority will brief about the status of extension project of Gilgit Baltistan airport.

On Thursday, ministries of information technology and telecommunications and water and power will hold briefings on projects of 820 kilometers optic fibre cable and provision of electricity and power plants in Gilgit Baltistan.

On the third day, the committee members will visit the project sites.
