Setback for the overseas workers including Pakistanis in Saudi Arabia

Under the new Saudi labour rule, only the kingdom’s nationals will be hired to work in the country’s shopping malls.
Human Resources and Social Development Minister Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi issued three new labour rules link to modify the country’s restaurant sector.
In his statement, the minister said, “The changes would mean jobs for 51,000 Saudi men and women.”
According to the first directive, only Saudi’s would be working in shopping malls and their management offices.
However, a restrained number of roles would be excluded, but the ministry did not specify which ones.
The other rule changes were related to raising the number of Saudis working in the restaurant, cafe and catering trade.
It is the latest government move to boost the number of Saudis in the workforce.
Earlier, the Saudi government had said that the exit and re-entry visa reforms will also allow expatriate to travel outside Saudi Arabia without their employer’s approval after presenting a request.
