Syrian Military Base attacked with missiles, number of casualties reported

DAMASCUS - In Syria, at least fourteen people were killed in missile attack on Tayfur airbase in Homs province this morning.

State news agency SANA reported that Syrian air defense system acted against the attack, destroying eight missiles before they reached their target, while others hit the base. State-run media outlets blamed that the United States was behind the attack. Pentagon has denied the allegation.

The strike on the military air base came as international outrage mounts over an attack on Saturday in the rebel enclave of Eastern Ghouta in which over seventy people were killed.

Meanwhile, UN Security Council will meet today to discuss an alleged poison gas attack in Douma.
