Former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, Shahid Afridi, took issue with the statement made by Jay Shah, the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), regarding Pakistan's security. Jay Shah had stated the previous day that due to security and economic concerns, all full members, media rights holders, and stadium rights holders were hesitant to participate in the entire tournament in Pakistan instead of Sri Lanka for the 2023 Asia Cup.
Jay Shah's statement mentioned that, in his capacity as ACC President, he had to find a suitable solution, and he acknowledged the acceptance of the hybrid model proposed by the PCB.
In response to Jay Shah's statement, Shahid Afridi issued a statement on Twitter, mentioning Jay Shah.
Shahid Afridi has mentioned in his post which foreign teams have visited Pakistan in these years. At the end of his tweet, Shahid Afridi also wrote, "Mr. Shah has no doubt that Pakistan is also prepared for hosting the Champions Trophy 2025 in India."
Javed Shah's objections prevented any changes to the Asia Cup venue.
It is clear that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has made a mockery of the Asia Cup schedule, just as Javed Shah had ridiculed the World Cup schedule before. They have now made decisions regarding the Asia Cup that are a subject of ridicule
