BEIJING - The Chinese Foreign Ministry has vehemently rejected the United States’ objections on the route of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Reacting to the statement of US Defence Secretary that the China’s one belt on road project passes through a disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir , the Chinese Foreign Ministry said, “We have repeatedly reiterated that the CPEC is an economic cooperation initiative that is not directed against third parties and it has nothing to do with the territorial sovereignty disputes and does not affect China's principled stance on the Kashmir issue”.

The ministry went on to say that over 70 countries and international organisations, including the United Nations (UN) General Assembly and UN Security Council, have signed cooperation agreements with Beijing on the OBOR initiative and incorporated it into important resolutions.

Pakistan Foreign Office (FO) has also rejected the US objections. “CPEC is a development and connectivity project for the betterment of the people in the region and beyond.”

Pakistan also urged the international community to take notice of the human rights violations and crimes against humanity committed by Indian forces in Indian occupied Kashmir .
