NAB Court gives a blow to Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD – The accountability court has on Wednesday turned down Finance Minister Ishaq Dar’s plea to get exemption on medical grounds from hearing of assets beyond means reference that has been filed against him by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The court issued orders to confiscate Ishaq Dar’s surety bonds worth five million rupees if he fails to appear in the next hearing, and decided to sustain his bailable arrest warrants.
The minister had requested the court to continue the case by appointing a legal representative for him. A fresh medical report of Dar was submitted in the court by his counsel Ayesha Hamid. The lawyer told that Ishaq Dar underwent angiography and his echocardiography is yet to be done.
NAB prosecutor Imran Shafique remarked that Ishaq Dar is continuously using delaying tactics to prolong the case and replied to Ayesha Hamid that it takes only four minutes to undergo echocardiography.
Dar is not suffering from any disease that prevents him to come to the court, said Imran Shafique. He accused that the minister has changed his doctor just because he was not getting the desired report.
