PPP and PTI clash in Karachi, several injured

*KARACHI: Political workers belonging to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) came to blows after a dispute over venue for May 12 rallies turned violent here in Karachi’s Hakim Saeed ground on Monday night*. Several people have been injured.

Addressing a press conference earlier in the day, PPP leader Saeed Ghani claimed that PPP had sought permission from the DC East on May 4, who informed him that no political party was organising or has sought permission to hold a political gathering at the venue.

He said the PTI administration in Karachi had decided to hold a rally on May 12 near the VIP Gate of Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum.

However, he said that PTI has organised a camp at the venue preventing them from making arrangements which was rather unfair. He said the PPP was a responsible party and would organise at a venue where they was no confrontation with other parties.
