Donald Trump takes final decision on Iran nuclear: Sources

WASHINGTON - President Donald Trump told his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron Tuesday morning he plans to announce later in the day he was pulling the United States out of the Iran nuclear deal, The New York Times has reported citing an official briefed on the conversation.

But the French presidency said Trump did not give any indication on Iran decision in phone call with Macron. Trump is scheduled to make an announcement later.

President Trump now plans to reimpose all the sanctions that were removed after the signing of the 2015 deal, called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), in exchange for Iran agreeing to freeze its nuclear weapons programme.

Trump’s decision followed failure of talks over the president’s insistence that definite limits be placed on Iran’s nuclear weapons programme going beyond 2030, which has been his key grouse against a deal that he has called a “disaster” and the “worst ideal ever”.
