President to attend SCO Summit in China

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain will visit China on Saturday to attend Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit.

At his weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal said that during his visit, the President will also meet his Chinese counterpart and discuss all matters of bilateral relations.

On the sidelines, the President will also hold meetings with leaders of other SCO member states.

To a question, the spokesperson said  Pakistan and Russia are partners in the field of energy and have signed a number of agreements including for the construction of North South gas pipeline.

He said both the countries have also finalized an MOU for feasability study of construction of undersea gas pipeline.

Dr Muhammad Faisal said that uninterrupted dialogue is the way forward for resolution of all disputes between Pakistan and India.

He said Pakistan desires to address issues through dialogue but the Indian side has never reciprocated to Pakistani offer.
