Iran hints it could enrich uranium to 5 percent for peaceful aims

Iran has hinted that it could boost its uranium enrichment to five percent for peaceful aims, ahead of deadline it set for world powers to save a landmark 2015 nuclear deal.

In an interview, Advisor on International Affairs Ali Akbar Velayati said uranium enrichment will increase to 5%. for our peaceful activities.

The accord capped Iran's enrichment maximum at 3.67 percent that was sufficient for power generation only.

Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron told his Iranian counterpart that he was deeply concerned by any further weakening of the 2015 nuclear deal and warned that consequences would inevitably follow any such move.
