Australia win toss, elect to bat against Pakistan in T20 tri-series-final

HARARE: Australia won the toss and elected to field against Pakistan in the final of the final of the T20 tri-series in Zimbabwe.

Both teams won three and lost one of their four games in the league stage and each has beaten the other once in their two encounters in the series so far.

The green shirts will be looking to build on their last league win when they defeated Australia by 45 runs.

Shaheen Afridi took three wickets in the match after Pakistan batting first posted a total of 195 for the kangaroos to chase down.

Opener Fakhar Zaman registered a career-best 73 as they raced to 194 for 7.

In reply, Australia could only manage 149 for 7 in the match.

However, Australia bounced back from the loss, to a win in their last league match against hosts Zimbabwe after Glenn Maxwell cracked 56 to help Australia beat Zimbabwe with a ball to spare on Friday.

Batting first Zimbabwe made 151 for nine wickets in their 20 overs, led by 63 from Solomon Mire.

In reply, Australia reached 154 when Matt Stoinis hitting a boundary off the penultimate with five wickets down.

For Pakistan, Zaman has been the main man, hitting two half-centuries in four innings, including a 42-ball 73 in his last match against Australia. 


While Australia will be looking towards Maxwell who burst to form against Zimbabwe.

The match will begin at 1pm Pakistan Standard Time.
