Complete shutdown in Kashmir on Friday over 5th martyrdom anniversary of top freedom leader Afzal Guru

SRINAGAR- In Occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown will be observed on Friday to mark the fifth martyrdom anniversary of Kashmiri leader, Muhammad Afzal Guru.

The call for the shutdown has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.

The leadership also called for peaceful protests after Friday prayers tomorrow to press the demand for the return of the mortal remains of Muhammad Afzal Guru and renowned Kashmiri liberation leader, Muhammad Maqbool Butt, from New Delhi’s Tihar Jail to occupied Kashmir for decent burial.

The puppet authorities put Hurriyet leaders under house arrest to prevent them from leading anti-India demonstrations tomorrow.

Complete shutdown, marked by demonstrations, was observed in Batpora area of Shopian today against the arrest of youth by Indian police.

Meanwhile, the President of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, Muhammad Sultan Magray, addressing a party meeting in Srinagar, has appreciated Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Dr. Maleeha Lodhi, for raising the Kashmir dispute at the United Nations and urging the UN Security Council to implement its relevant resolutions on Kashmir.
