Direct talks between Afghan Government and Taliban likely to be held by end February

ISLAMABAD: The Four-Nation meeting of Pakistan, Afghanistan, China and USA has approved comprehensive roadmap for the commencement of peace talks between Afghan government and Taliban.
As per details, the direct talks between Afghan government and Taliban are likely to be held by the end of February and the four-nation group decided to intensify their efforts in this regard.
The third round of four-nation QCG meeting was held here at Islamabad. Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister Hikmat Khalil, US special envoy Richard Olson, China special envoy on Afghanistan Deng Xijun and Pakistan Foreign Secretary were present in the meeting.
The four-nation meeting reviewed the different recommendations to start peace dialogues between Afghan government and Taliban and approved a roadmap which consist of different stages during peace talks between Afghan government and Taliban.
