Indian Army severe crackdown in Occupied Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Dozens of people were injured, in occupied Kashmir,when Indian troops used brute force on protesters in Muran area of Pulwama district.

According to Kashmir Media Service, clashes erupted between protesters and Indian forces when people came out of their houses to protest against crackdown in Muran village ahead of a scheduled pro-freedom rally. The police and troops arrested scores of people during raids on their houses, reported Kashmir Media Service.

They also raided the venue of the rally, which led to pitched battles between youth and forces' personnel deployed in strength in the area. Indian police fired teargas shells to disperse the protesters, injuring several of them. The police also arrested four youth from Ajas area of Bandipora to prevent a pro-freedom rally.

Meanwhile, Indian forces' personnel launched a massive siege and search operation in Anzawala area of Islamabad district. They started house-to-house search in the village.

The Chairman of Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in a statement in Srinagar said that the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people had succeeded in drawing attention of the international community and world major powers towards the urgency involved in the settlement of the Kashmir dispute. He welcomed the recent statement of the US vice President-elect Mike Pence hinting at Donald Trump's willingness to play the role of a mediator on the Kashmir dispute.
