Arizona, Texas to send 400 troops to US-Mexico border

WASHINGTON: American states of Texas and Arizona have announced to send four hundred National Guard troops to the border with Mexico.

The move came after President Donald Trump ordered a thousands-strong deployment to combat drug trafficking and illegal immigration.

The move has heightened tensions with Mexico, whose President Enrique Pena Nieto said Trump’s “threatening or disrespectful attitudes” are unjustified. APP/AFP
