LAHORE – The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claims to have killed ten terrorists of banned outfit in a shootout in the provincial capital on Friday night.
The CTD was taking the arrested facilitators to Manawan for recovery of explosives when their accomplices ambushed the team. In the retaliatory fire, 10 terrorists were killed including the facilitators of the attack, reported Geo TV.
The CTD officials said the terrorists killed in the ‘encounter’ at Manawan area were affiliated to Jammat-ul-Ahrar and were involved in Mall Road suicide attack.
Days after the attack, CTD personnel had apprehended alleged facilitator Anwarul Haq. The law enforcers, on Haq’s pointation had also arrested his other accomplices.
Facilitators Anwarul Haq and Atta-ul-Rehman were among the militants gunned down in the shootout, they added.
Other two terrorists have been identified as Imam Shah and Irfan Khan.
