ANKARA – Turkey has successfully tested its first cruise missile.
According to Science and Industry Minister Mustafa Varank, SOM-B2 missile has been designed to penetrate hard concrete targets and has an operational range of 250 kilometres.
Varank shared a video on his Twitter account that showed the missile successfully hit its target, which was a bunker with a concrete roof.
Developed by the Defense Research and Development Institute (SAGE) of Turkey’s Scientific and Technological Research Council (TÜBİTAK), test-fired the SOM-B2 missile — a high explosive blast fragmentation warhead variant of the stand-off missile (SOM).
Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) will use the missile against targets buried deep underground.
