National Security Committee meeting discuss emerging defence, foreign policy challenges

ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the National Security Committee was held under the chair of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday.

The meeting of the country’s highest security forum, second in a week, was attended by Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen Zubair Hayat, along with all three services chiefs, as well as federal ministers and other officials part of the committee.


Sources said the participants of the meeting discussed Tuesday’s statement by Afghan President Ashraf Ghani at a regional peace conference in Kabul, the Indian aggression along the Line of Control and the recent conversation of the two countries’ military operations chiefs and the situation in Qatar.

The committee last met on May 31, when it discussed progress on Operation Raddul Fasaad and the situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir.
