UN chief appeals for suspension of hostilities in SW Syria

UNITED NATIONS: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has, once again appealed for an immediate suspension of hostilities in southwestern Syria and resumption of negotiations to appease the situation.

Speaking through his spokesperson Stephane Dujarric, Guterres expressed concern over resumption of military offensive in the area and its continued devastating impact on civilians.

Guterres called on all parties to take all necessary measures to safeguard civilian lives in accordance with international humanitarian law.

He reiterated his call for the UN to be allowed to conduct humanitarian deliveries without further delay.
