*ISLAMABAD - A letter has been sent to the interior ministry seeking the inclusion of the Sharif family’s names on the Exit Control List (ECL).*
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has requested the ministry to stop former prime minister Nawaz Sharif , his daughter Maryam Nawaz, sons Hassan and Hussain Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar from leaving the country.
Nawaz, Maryam, Hassan and Hussain are in London where they are visiting the ailing Kulsoom Nawaz. Captain (retd) Safdar is in Pakistan where he has been campaigning for the General Elections 2018.
NAB , in the letter, expressed its concern that Captain (retd) Safdar may leave Pakistan before he is arrested. It has requested the ministry to issue a warrant against him as soon as possible.
The former prime minister has been awarded 10 years and Maryam has been awarded seven in the Avenfield case while Captain (retd) Safdar was awarded one year.
He said he would return home once his wife’s condition improved. “I really want to talk to Kulsoom before I leave for Pakistan,” he said.
