ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has postponed Nawaz Sharif’s plea for an indefinite period for suspension of his sentence in the Al-Azizia reference on Monday.

A two-member bench comprising of IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Amir Farooq heard the plea.

The court observed that it cannot hear the plea until fixing of the main appeal.

Former premier Nawaz Sharif had filed an appeal in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against his sentence in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference on Tuesday.

The appeal filed through his counsel requested the court to nullify the verdict of the accountability court.

The court had returned the plea after raising an objection. Nawaz Sharif’s counsel again filed the petition after removing the objections.

Nawaz Sharif , in the petition, contended that he should be granted bail and released until the verdict on the main appeals.
