Saudi Foreign Minister postpones his visit to Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Bin Ahmad al Jubeir has postponed his visit to Pakistan due to the rising conflict between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

As per Foreign Office Spokesperson, Jubeir was scheduled to arrive on Sunday for a two-day visit. However, he will now visit Pakistan on January 7. Foreign office has not cited any reason for the postponement of his visit.

Diplomatic Sources said that the situation arising out of Saturday’s execution of Saudi Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr al Nimr was the main reason behind the postponement of Jubeir’s visit.

Jubeir’s visit to Pakistan is considered important because he had to discuss regarding the 34 nation alliance of Islamic countries against terrorism. He had to meet with Sartaj Aziz, Foreign Advisor to PM Nawaz and discuss Pakistan role in this alliance.
